ARTBOOK | D.A.P. NEW YORK OFFICE INTERNSHIPS

ARTBOOK | D.A.P. is a distributor of books on modern and contemporary art, photography and design. In addition, we selectively publish photography and art books under the D.A.P. imprint, as well as groundbreaking books about architecture, design, and the environment under the Metropolis Books imprint. ARTBOOK also manages several museum bookstores including ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1, ARTBOOK @ Walker Art Center, and ARTBOOK @ HAUSER WIRTH.

As an intern at D.A.P. you will be exposed to both the contemporary art, architecture, and design worlds and an intimate, well-rounded view of the publishing industry. Interns must make a 3-month commitment of at least 2 days per week, from September through December. Positions are available for academic credit and interns will receive a stipend of art books. Additionally, interns will be invited to attend field trips at art/publishing institutions in the New York area.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Current college student or very recent graduate with background or interest in contemporary art and publishing.
• Must be detail-oriented, hardworking, and responsible.
• Writing skills and proficiency in Adobe programs are essential.

OPEN POSITIONS
Marketing
Intern will assist the Marketing Director with production of sales materials in digital and physical formats (making book mock-ups, page layouts, and sales kids) in addition to updating cover images for use in our printed catalogue and online. Intern will assist with our advertisements in print/online publications, help prepare for publishing conferences and assist with building and updating contact lists. Applicants must have experience with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Microsoft Office suite. Experience with still life photography and Mail Chimp are helpful.

Website & Social Media
Intern will assist website editor with imaging and content gathering for artbook.com. He or she will also help schedule social media campaigns around events, new releases, art fairs and related press. Candidate must be fluent in Photoshop and Excel, and should have experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and HTML. Strong writing skills, flexibility and sense of humor required. Two days per week. The ideal candidate will have a background in contemporary art history.

Publisher Services
Intern will assist in seasonal catalogue production needs; correspondence on individual book submissions; digitizing of publisher contracts and sales reports; participation in weekly acquisition meetings. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, knowledge of contemporary art and photography, and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.

Publicity
The publicity intern assists the publicity department with press outreach for D.A.P. publications. Daily tasks include maintaining a report of press activity for all D.A.P. distributed titles, building press releases for upcoming publications and events, excerpting reviews, assisting with mailings, and more. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills; knowledge of Photoshop is a plus. This position requires three days per week.

ARTBOOK @ MOMA PS1 FALL 2017 INTERNSHIP

ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Bookstore & Magazine Store seeks a highly motivated individual with knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and culture for its Fall 2017 Internship Program. The internship position holds potential for those interested in gaining an understanding of the various roles that a museum bookshop plays, including its providing an educational context for visitors, fulfilling sales at museum events, and acting as a platform for museum publications. Prior ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 interns have gone on to work in publishing houses, museums, and record labels.

Job Description
The ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Fall 2017 Internship requires a 2-day-per-week, 4-month commitment beginning September 2017 and running through December, 2017. End-date is flexible with holidays.

Intern will acquire and refine the following skills:
• Experience the role of the bookstore within the larger context of a contemporary arts institution
• Ability to assist with special events programming (book launches and signings)
• Ability to contribute content for social media and customer outreach efforts
• Ability to contribute focused research on specific artists and publishers for upcoming exhibitions and museum programming (such as Printed Matter’s 2017 New York Art Book Fair, the ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Annual Stoop Sale, MoMA PS1 Sunday Sessions Programming, etc.)
• Day-to-day tasks will include customer service, inventory management, shipping, submission review, and archiving.

Qualifications and Requirements
Required skills:
• A strong command of reading and writing in English
• Fluency with Microsoft Office programs on Mac-platforms
• Ability to multitask, and to balance short and long-term projects
• Is comfortable interacting with the public in store and over the phone

A strong candidate:
• Has an interest in the arts and wants to learn more about contemporary art, books, and magazines
• Has a background or interest in writing, editing, and/or research
• Has experience managing social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)
• Has experience using the Adobe Creative Suite
• Shows initiative and self-motivation

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship program. School credit and community service hours are available to qualified applicants. All accepted into the ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Fall Internship Program will be gifted a selection of art books upon completion of the internship.

ARTBOOK | D.A.P. LOS ANGELES SHOWROOM INTERNSHIPS - FALL 2017

As an intern at ARTBOOK Los Angeles Showroom you will be exposed to both the contemporary art, architecture, and design worlds and an intimate, well-rounded view of the publishing industry. Interns are expected to make a three-month commitment of at least two days per week. Hours are flexible. Fall internships will run from September to early December. The ARTBOOK | D.A.P. Los Angeles Showroom is located in the historic Theatre District of downtown Los Angeles and serves the West Coast gift and bookstore markets. Positions are available for academic credit and interns will receive a stipend of art books.

Qualifications and Requirements: • Current college student with background or interest in contemporary art, architecture, design, and publishing.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, and technically savvy. Writing skills and knowledge of Excel are a must.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and InDesign are a plus.

ARTBOOK LOS ANGELES INTERNSHIP Assist with sales representative mailings, sending samples to buyers, and customer data updates. Research and outreach to targeted customer types or specific title groups. Research and assemble title lists for museum exhibitions. General office help and keeping showroom presentable. Receive new shipments and keep sample library in order. Candidate should have strong computer skills and knowledge of current photography and art trends.

SPRING 2018 INTERNSHIP, ARTBOOK @ HAUSER & WIRTH LOS ANGELES BOOKSTORE

ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles Bookstore seeks a highly motivated individual with knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and culture for its Spring 2018 Internship Program.

Located within the Hauser & Wirth gallery complex in Los Angeles, ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth Bookstore's mission is to offer the most relevant publications in current art and culture. The internship position holds potential for those interested in gaining an understanding of the various roles that a bookstore within a gallery can play in the context of the art and culture industries of the 21st century.

Job Description
The ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles Spring 2018 Internship requires a commitment of two eight-hour days per week for four months, beginning January 1 - May 31, 2018. Wednesday through Sunday. The store is closed Monday and Tuesday.
