Fall 2013 catalog celebrates the pleasures of the printed visual book, both by revisiting its rich history and highlighting the finest art, photography, architecture and design books being published this season. Highlights include This is Mars, featuring 150 tritone photographs of the red planet by NASA/MRO, expertly edited and designed by Xavier Barral for Aperture; MoMA's monumental exhibition catalog for the traveling exhibition, Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938); Richard Merryman's Spoken Self-Portrait of longtime friend, Andrew Wyeth, published by the National Gallery of Art and D.A.P.; MoMA's reprints of Calvin Tomkins' classic biography of Marcel Duchamp and his chronicle of a glamorous Lost Generation couple, Living Well is the Best Revenge; and Aperture's Understanding a Photograph, by John Berger, collecting landmark essays and uncollected works by one of hte most renowned and influential writers of the last 50 years.

Adler's California Surfingn and Climbing in the Fifties, and Jacques Henri Lartigue: A Sporting Life, a gorgeous, luxurious volume of photographs of early twentieth leisure class sporting.
