| | | ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1The ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 bookstore and magazine store are the most vibrant source for cutting-edge contemporary art books and magazines on the East Coast, a treasure trove of books, catalogues, magazines, DVDs and CDs rarely found elsewhere and a destination for lovers of contemporary culture. Located next to M. Wells' Dinette on the first floor of the museum, ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 is home to New York City's deepest selection of contemporary international art titles from more than 800 publishers.
As of June, 2012, ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 has operated the ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Magazine Store, just inside the redesigned entrance. Expertly curated by ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 founder Skúta Helgason, the ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Magazine Store represents the best of the current crop of international magazines in all genres – from intensely local food and fashion zines to sophisticated art, design, architecture, media, theory, and culture journals, to daily newspapers and major national magazines, spiced with serial artist's publications that gleefully defy categorization. Inspired by the curatorial daring of MoMA PS1's Director Klaus Biesenbach, the selection champions creative print publishing, editorial leadership, and visual inspiration, with an emphasis on lesser-known and riskier titles.
Both the bookstore and the magazine shop actively seek hard-to-find publications reflecting current cultural trends worldwide. Together, they continue to present book signings and readings by artists, curators, performers and critics in collaboration with MoMA PS1.
