"I have of course had access to various color theories, but I have forgotten everything about them, down to the very name of some colors. I use color in a direct, intuitive way. The way I use it depends on how I feel." Featured image, a unique blown glass vase from the Écran series for the CIRVA collection (1998-2001), is reproduced from JRP|Ringier's new monograph on French designer Pierre Charpin, who writes, "I like to define a color capable of 'enclosing' a form. Or, on the contrary, when I use 'my' acid yellow or certain bright shades, they are 'open,' they vibrate, and so even if the form is squared, thanks to the color it catches the eye, allowing me to read it differently."
