Mike Mandel: Good 70s

Launching with a 6-7PM signing tonight in the ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 Magazine Store at the NY Art Book Fair, Mike Mandel: Good 70s is a remarkable boxed, limited edition artist's book containing facsimiles of classic and never-before-published 70s photo projects by Mike Mandel—including a full set of his highly collectible Baseball Photographer Playing Cards, four of which are reproduced here. In addition to facsimiles of the out-of-print classics, Myself: Timed Exposures and Seven Never Before Seen Portraits of Edward Weston, this understated yet spectacular boxed set also includes the previously unpublished projects, Motel Postcards, People in Cars and Mrs. Kilpatric, plus ephemera from the projects, including selected facsimile contact sheets from the baseball photo shoots, a letter (with envelope) to Mandel from Charis Wilson regarding her husband, Edward Weston, and, almost unbelievably, a pack of ten of the original 1975 baseball cards with synthetic pink chewing gum enclosed. This signing follows Mandel's 4-5PM film screening and talk in David Senior's Classroom series, in collaboration with co-publishers Jason Fulford of J&L Books and Sharon Helgason Gallagher of D.A.P. Publications.
