All hail Andy Warhol

Everyone should see Andy Warhol—From A to B and Back Again at the Whitney museum. On view through March 31, this "brilliant" retrospective "shows a personal side of the Pop master—his hopes, fears, faith—and reasserts his power for a new generation," according to Holland Cotter of the New York Times. And yet, not all works can be shown, even in an exhibition this sweeping. Therefore, we highly recommend, as supplemental reading, Andy Warhol's The Chelsea Girls, our magical recent monograph on Warhol's iconic 1966 split-screen masterpiece, which is not included in the Whitney's screening program—though its presence is certainly felt.
