Legendary for a reason

Pattie Boyd's My Life in Pictures features 200 photographs of or by the legendary model, muse and photographer—whether on the cover of Vogue, with former husbands George Harrison and Eric Clapton, or other celebrated figures ranging from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to Frank Sinatra and Taylor Swift. Letters, notes and memories are also peppered throughout. Of this now-iconic 1968 self-portrait, taken at her first home with Harrison, she writes: “My rose garden at Kinfauns. I think what makes this picture work so well now is George looking away, impatient with my camera’s self-timer. When I first rediscovered the photo many years later, like all of my photographs I thought, oh dear, this is a bit embarrassing. My roses are lovely, but my bikini top is awful. If I’d thought it would be so popular after all these years I would have done my hair properly.”
