CELEBRATE LGBTQ PRIDE!

This week marks the fifty-second anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which radiated LGBT Pride and the demand for equal rights from the riots' origins in Greenwich Village, New York, outward to the rest of this country and the world forevermore. Unstoppable since then, though many have tried, the movement was documented in San Francisco by Daniel Nicoletta, who captured everything from his boss, Harvey Milk—before, during and after he was elected San Francisco’s first openly gay Supervisor—to the riots that followed Milk’s assassination, and later Castro Street fairs, puss print pajama parties, Pride parades, drag shows, Transmarches, rallies, and finally, contemporary legal gay weddings. For Pride Week reading, we highly recommend LGBT: San Francisco, Nicoletta's paean to the the evolution of the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender mecca that was and is San Francisco from the 1970s til now. Featured photograph was taken at the SF LGBT Pride march in June of 1977. Pictured are Angels of Light Gregory Cruickshank, Rodney Price and Joe Morocco.
