A 13-year-old star is born at the 1982 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

Today we celebrate Fashion Week and the finale of the 2017 US Open with this 1982 photograph of 13-year-old Steffi Graf playing in her first Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany. Reproduced from 40 : Love, Steidl’s over-the-top, 368-page tribute to the Porsche Grand Prix, this image represents one of the world's most important women’s tennis tournaments on its fortieth anniversary. “Dwarfed by the world elite,” the copy reads,” Graf made her world debut at this tournament. “The winner is unimpressed by Steffi, there’s hundreds like her.
