'Yves Klein: In/Out Studio' in the WSJ Magazine

Yves Klein: In/Out Studio is the most intimate monograph ever published on the French artist who both revolutionized painting and gave performance art a kick-start in the 1950s. Filled with hundreds of candid, largely unpublished photographs and archival materials from the artist's apartment/work space—which his wife, the artist Rotraut Uecker, has maintained untouched since Klein's untimely death in 1962—this book's "snapshots and outtakes reveal the mess and mischief behind the scenes, as Klein slathered paint on the models, sat exhausted on the bed or laughed over meals with friends," in the words of Carol Kino, who contributes a major feature on the book in this weekend's Wall Street Journal Magazine. Featured photograph is of a model making an Anthropometry print at Klein's apartment in 1960.
