"Super Girl" (2016) is reproduced from Valérie Belin, launching tonight at Albertine. MoMA curator Quentin Bajac, who will appear in conversation with Belin, writes, "Whereas the American photographer and an important figure for her, Richard Avedon, could still affirm in the 1980s that photography, and his own pictures in particular, were 'readings of the surface,' simple captures of the external envelope of beings, Belin seems to have come to the conclusion that not even that is possible now."
