Marriage of the Minds in Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb: Slant Rhymes

“Some cities slip off the map of our imagination. Others insist on living inside us—Havana, Istanbul, Brooklyn,” Rebecca Norris Webb writes in her new double monograph with husband Alex Webb. “A slow, ambling walk seems the right rhythm for photographing a city,” he responds across the spread. “Its easy pace lets me drift through the streets, my instincts alert but my mind wandering. Walking allows me to absorb a city and to lose myself in a city. And all the while, its unhurried tempo keeps me open to whatever I may encounter around the next corner—the unexpected, the unknown, or sometimes the secret heart of the known.” Featured images are “Arcahaie, Haiti” by Alex Webb and “Missouri River, South Dakota” by Rebecca Norris Webb.
