Olivo Barbieri: Site Specific

Featured image, "Montreal" (2004), is reproduced from Site Specific, Aperture's new 10 year survey of aerial photographs by Italian photographer Olivo Barbieri. Pei-ru Keh reviews the book and interview's Barbieri in Wallpaper: "The book's captivating dynamism is down to Barbieri's unique take on the tilt-shift technique. From his aerial vantage point, he takes recognizable city landmarks and reorients them in a magical light. The infrastructure and architecture are accentuated to such a degree, they take on an intense hyperreality, inducing newfound awe."
