'Mark Morrisroe: Mark Dirt' to Launch at BOOKMARC, NYC

"Mark, who claimed to be the illegitimate son of THE Boston Strangler prostituted himself at 15, totally by choice, to buy art supplies, ice cream cones and make-up, thereby leaving thousands of breathtakingly beautiful photographs, mostly of himself, masking an unparalleled tragic life. He succumbed to HIV on the eve of his friends becoming huge international Art Stars. In the pantheon of 'Bad Ass' it is hard to one up Mark Morrisroe." Featured self-portrait (and text) are reproduced from Mark Dirt, Paper Chase Press' new collection of Morrisroe ephemera, assembled by the artist's longtime partner, Ramsey McPhillips. The book launches in New York on Friday, September 13th at BOOKMARC.
