Andrew Moore: Dirt Meridian

"I can hardly say how much these photographs of the country along the 100th parallel mean to me," acclaimed novelist Kent Haruf writes in his preface to Dirt Meridian, Andrew Moore's newest book of photographs. "A little west of here is where I grew up and where I taught in a rural school for most of a decade. This is the country I love the most. The look of this country is what I would want to see every day, though I live in the mountains now. I think of the high plains, the great plains, the short grass prairie, as the way country should look: this stark clear flat land, so open and wide, with its sandhills, and overhead the tremendous clouds, and the wind blowing, and nothing to stop it from Canada to Texas except barbed wire fence." Featured image is "Homesteaders' Tree, Cherry County, Nebraska," 2011.
