It would be a challenge to find a band, musician or producer today who doesn't have Led Zeppelin or one of their direct musical descendants in their lineage. Now, the seminal band has authored their own book, which Kelly Caminero of the Daily Beast describes as "a 400-page time capsule into the band's exceptional career [that] sequentially depicts artwork, illustrations and curated photographs personally chosen from the band's never before seen archives." Billboard, The Guardian, CNN, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Mojo, CR Fashion Book and others extoll the vivid illustrations of the band's history that at the same time reveal the human story of the members of the band and strengthen their myth. Featured in the Rolling Stone, British GQ, Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Le Figaro and Cigar Aficionado Holiday Gift Guides, 2018!

Page, Plant and Jones have collaborated with Reel Art Press to publish the first illustrated book celebrating 50 years since Led Zeppelin formed

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin is the first and only official illustrated book ever to be produced in full collaboration with the members of the band. Celebrating 50 years since their formation, this definitive 400-page volume charts the group's unparalleled musical career from the very first performance in a tiny club, to their performance at London's O2 Arena, when 20 million fans broke the world record for highest demand for tickets for a single concert.

The book features over 300 photographs—many seen here for the first time—of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham from photographers around the world, and photographs from the band members' personal collections. The band are seen on and off stage, in candid moments and in the recording studio. Accompanying the photographs is rare and unseen artwork from the Led Zeppelin archives, and fascinating documents and images from the Atlantic Records vaults.

John Paul Jones on Led Zeppelin, acoustic sets and the mandolin

John Paul Jones on Led Zeppelin, acoustic sets and the mandolin

"I bought a mandolin in a thrift shop in Evansville, Indiana," Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones writes in response to this Carl Dunn photograph from Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin. "I think I'd heard some Fairport Convention so I learned a couple of their tunes. It was nice to sit down and just be acoustic. Jimmy wrote most of his electric riffs and all the songs on that acoustic. It was a drastic change of pace in the show but by that time we were opening for ourselves. Those that wanted to go to the bar could, it was hard shutting them up at first, but then people really enjoyed it and it became part of the set. I started traveling with the mandolin everywhere because it's small. I love it. To this day I carry a mandolin wherever I go." continue to blog

Jimmy Page on Led Zeppelin

Jimmy Page on Led Zeppelin

"The first rehearsal was planned in a basement in Gerrard Street, London," Jimmy Page writes in his Prologue to Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin, the international blockbuster releasing tomorrow (!!) from Reel Art Press. "Our equipment was set up and after tuning up there was a count in and we began to play together. At the end of that number I believe each and every one of us had a musical communion like no other. It would be a life-changing experience…" Featured photograph was taken by Ian Dickson during Led Zeppelin's May 1975 performance at Earls Court Arena, London. continue to blog

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin releases today!

Independent bookstores rejoice! October 9 has finally arrived and Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin is now available worldwide! Held under strict embargo until today, this whopping 400-page collection of rare artworks, previously unpublished images and documents unearthed from the vaults of Atlantic Records is the only official book ever authored by the living members of the band. "I experienced unimaginable creative peaks and vivid adventure, often played out against a relentless emotional landscape," Robert Plant is quoted in his Epilogue. "There were no instructions inside the box we opened, no preparation for the journey, no clues, no destinations. So rough and ragged, joyous and ecstatic, and gone." Pictured here, clockwise from top left, are Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham, photographed by Dick Barnatt in December, 1968. continue to blog

Led Zeppelin celebrates 50 years!

Today Led Zeppelin celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the band's first day in the studio together with three new digital streaming titles, a new fiftieth-anniversary logo and promotions in independent music stores worldwide. We thought we'd join in with this July 1979 photo (taken in Knebworth, Hertfordshire, UK) from Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin, releasing October 9 worldwide. It's one of more than 300 images from the band's private archives, published alongside various texts and commentary, historical and original to the book, from Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham (who died in 1980.) "We knew how good we were," Jimmy Page is quoted. "The way the alchemy bonded and the way the band was to showcase each of us as a serious musician. Certainly the live situation created an extra element." continue to blog
