Fragile Beasts Coloring Book

Fragile Beasts, an exhibition of more than 100 ornamental prints and drawings from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, opens today at Cooper Hewitt. Published to accompany the exhibition is this super-sophisticated coloring book, which transforms the original grotesques into line drawings that beg to be colored in. Featured here is an adaptation of a sixteenth-century engraving on paper, "Grotesque Ornament with Satyrs," from a set of 20 ornamental panels by Italian artisan Agostino Veneziano (ca 1490-after 1536).
