"Everything starts with drawing. I think with drawing, and my ideas come to me as I draw. Drawing also fulfills the role of clearing out everything that is encumbering the mind, to make it available." Untitled (2013) is reproduced from JRP|Ringier's new monograph on iconic French designer Pierre Charpin, who continues, "I have always done drawings, the end purpose of which is the drawing itself, drawings I call 'design drawings.' I attach great importance to them. They correspond to the only time when I do not need to call on outside skills, the time when I am responsible for the entirety of a production."
