Photographers Uta Barth and An-My Lê Awarded 2012 MacArthur Genius Fellowships

Photographers An-My Lê and Uta Barth are among the 23 cultural and scientific luminaries to be named MacArthur Fellows for the year 2012. The MacArthur "genius" grant is one of the world's most prestigious, not only because recipients are awarded $500,000 over the course of five years, but because nominations are secret and there are no limitations on how the award money can or should be spent. Featured image, by Uta Barth, is reproduced from Blind Spot's stunning new artist's book / monograph, To Draw with Light. For more books by both artists, please see our Uta Barth and An-My Lêh monograph pages.
