'Barbara Bosworth: The Heavens' is a deluxe photobook for stargazers, dreamers, science lovers and poets

From the outside, Barbara Bosworth's new photobook, The Heavens, appears to be a beautiful, hushed collection of photographs of the Earth's night sky. Open it, however, and in addition to the many photographs of our stars, sun, comets, meteor showers and moon, you will find deluxe papers, exquisite printing, sewn in special portfolio sections devoted to different celestial bodies and phenomena, facsimiles of Galileo's writings and drawings, a usable cut-out planisphere, a list of astronomy books on the artist's shelves (and photographs of some of them), lists of deep sky objects and comets discovered by Caroline Herschel, reproductions of Harvard College Observatory plate glass negatives, a list of astronomical events photographed by Bosworth during the making of the book, facsimile reproductions of some of Bosworth's negative log books, poems, writings and much more. "Last quarter" is reproduced from a sewn-in facsimile edition of Bosworth's 2017 artist's book, The Moon.
