Fondazione Prada

The Fondazione Prada, created by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli in 1993, established itself early on as a producer of high-impact shows of works by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Anish Kapoor, Dan Flavin, and David Smith. As Miuccia Prada has said, their exhibitions seek to present the international public with the "most profound thought-provoking art projects of our times." Today, the foundation is located in Milan at an early 20th-century industrial complex, Largo Isarco, which was redesigned in 2008 by architect Rem Koolhaus and his firm OMA. Fondazione Prada books are always gorgeously designed, and include catalogues, monographs and artists' books, with a focus on scholarly texts. A frequent contributor of essays is Germano Celant, Director of the Fondazione Prada and Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
