Revised edition of Belgian photographer Deruytter's book from 2000, featuring images of Montana cowboys and an essay on cowboy culture from poet and photography critic John Wood. Despite the anachronistic lifestyles of these rodeo riders, Deruytter's charismatic black and white images are neither historical nor nostalgic in tone. Instead, he captures a sense of adventure, and the ability of a community to pursue its own path, both adapting to and ignoring the modern world around it. Deruytter recently had his first solo museum exhibition at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York.
