Goddess in the Details: Ellen Lupton & Paula Scher at The Strand

Tuesday, November 14, from 7-8 PM, the Strand Bookstore presents design luminaries Ellen Lupton and Paula Scher speaking about fonts, fairy tales and what it takes to make it in graphic design. Book signing to follow.

Goddess in the Details: Ellen Lupton & Paula Scher at The Strand

Someone on TV called Paula Scher the most influential female graphic designer on the planet. (We think it was Ellen Lupton.) In an evening of salty conversation, Scher and Lupton will share ideas from their latest books.

Lupton presents Design Is Storytelling, a practical guide to narrative techniques and the psychology of looking. Published by Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Lupton’s handy new design manual celebrates action, emotion, and sensation as design’s most potent ingredients.

Scher's latest publication, Works, is a stunning chronicle of a career spanning from CBS Records to Shake Shack. Published by Unit Editions in the UK, Scher’s 520-page tome makes a rare bookstore appearance at the Strand.

Please join us in the Rare Book Room as these two women of the graphic design industry share their craft!
