Barking with Excitement: Show Dogs

With its vibrant color backdrops and its flurry of wet-nosed friends, Show Dogs is a playful book that would make any dog lover BARK with excitement at each turn of the page! Kate Lacey, the photographer of Show Dogs, studied photography at Sarah Lawrence College and now lives in Brooklyn. Show Dogs is her first book, although she has also worked for dozens of publications including Artforum, Bust, InStyle, Life, Make, Nylon, People, ReadyMade and The New York Times.

The show dogs are not only just glamorous, but they are the celebrities of the dog world; they are also able to let their personalities shine through as their names are displayed underneath their candid. Bandit, a Sealyham Terrier is one of my favorite show dogs. He appears on page 61 with a furry bandit-like mask that cover his eyes. Suzie, the toy poodle is no ordinary poodle, she's got a wild side!

Show Dogs covers a wide variety of dog breeds, broken down into seven categories: hound, working, sporting, non-sporting, terrier, toy and herding.

These categories of dogs are recognized by The American Kennel Club, where attention to detail, grooming, and overall personality makes these dogs winners.

From the Irish Water Spaniel named "Maude" to a Pomeranian named “Cee Cee,” these show dogs have it all—poise, pizzazz and spunk.

Kate Lacey captures all of the four legged friends as man’s best friend, as loyal companions, protectors, and best of all as show dogs.
