In memory of Ridinghouse publisher Karsten Schubert

We are very sad to hear of the death of Karsten Schubert, publisher of Ridinghouse and famed gallerist who did so much to shape the landscape of British art in the 1990s.

In memory of Ridinghouse publisher Karsten Schubert

In 1995 he cofounded Ridinghouse, which made a specialty of publishing the work of great art writers and historians such as Dawn Ades, Lawrence Gowing, Richard Flood and Michael Bracewell in beautifully designed, elegant and immediately identifiable editions, as well as championing the art of Bridget Riley, John Stezaker and numerous under-the-radar artists such as Rose English, Linder and Dom Sylvester Houédard. He is widely remembered for his ability to bring people together, for his parties at his London home, his uncommon erudition, his humor and his rare ability to keep the foibles of the art world at arm’s length. So many people have so many fond memories of his generosity and encouragement.
