McNally Jackson Seaport presents Ann Temkin, Michelle Kuo, Joseph Logan and Josh Kline on Marcel Duchamp

Wednesday, June 24, at 7 PM, McNally Jackson Seaport presents a celebration of Marcel Duchamp, whose radical vision reshaped art—and the role of the artist—forever. In honor of the landmark exhibition Marcel Duchamp—the first major North American retrospective of the artist’s work in over fifty years—and the accompanying publication, join MoMA curators Ann Temkin and Michelle Kuo, book designer Joseph Logan and artist Josh Kline for an in-depth discussion of Duchamp’s category-defying life and work, and his ongoing legacy and resonance for 21st-century artists.

Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968), more than any other modern artist, challenged and transformed the very definition of art. Over a six-decade career, Duchamp ushered in a new era of creative license—the reverberations of which are still felt today. His pursuits were marked by continuous reinvention and deliberate inconsistency: “I have forced myself to contradict myself,” he once remarked, “in order to avoid conforming to my own taste.”

Ann Temkin is the Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art. Among the recent exhibitions that she has curated or co-curated at MoMA are Marcel Duchamp (2026), Projects: Marlon Mullen (2024), Matisse: The Red Studio (2022), and Judd (2020).

Michelle Kuo is Chief Curator at Large and Publisher at The Museum of Modern Art. She champions the intersection of art, technology, and culture, highlighting innovative media practices and global artistic dialogues. She is the editor of Sensing the Future: Experiments in Art and Technology (with Nancy Perloff, 2024). Her curatorial work includes the retrospective Marcel Duchamp (2026), Jack Whitten: The Messenger (2025), and Otobong Nkanga: Cadence (2024–25).

Joseph Logan is a New York–based graphic designer known for his work on contemporary art books and exhibition catalogues. He has designed publications for major institutions and publishers including The Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum, and MACK Books. His practice emphasizes close collaboration with artists and curators, including Nan Goldin, Wade Guyton, Zoe Leonard, Julie Mehretu, Taryn Simon, and Jordan Wolfson.

Josh Kline lives and works in New York, USA. His art has been widely exhibited in the United States and internationally. He currently has a solo exhibition on view at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo and is an artist in residence at STPI, Singapore. In 2024, Kline had a large-scale solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and was included in the 24th Biennale of Sydney and the 8th Yokohama Triennial. In 2023 his work was the subject of a major survey exhibition at the Whitney Museum in New York. Kline is the author of the essay “New York Real Estate and the Ruin of American Art,” published this spring by the journal October.
