ARTBOOK @ Swiss Institute Celebrates 30 years of Parkett

Parkett is one of the most comprehensive and innovative book series on contemporary art worldwide. Parkett is neither an art journal nor an art magazine. It is a collector’s item cherished not only by art lovers but also by many artists and the world’s major museums and galleries, who subscribe. Parkett is published two times a year. Each volume of more than 250 pages contains over 150 color reproductions. Parkett does not report on art from the outside in; Parkett discovers art from the inside out. Each volume focuses on several of the world’s most compelling and important artists, who actively participate in creating the publication, down to the selection of the visuals and the page layout. More than 225 such monographic artists’ portraits and a total of 1400 texts have been published since 1984. This is what a "collaboration artist" means to Parkett.

Besides the artists’ collaborations, each volume contains an “Insert“: a sequence of 10 -12 color pages designed by the selected artist. “Cumulus“ gives art professionals a chance to air their views on a topical issue of their choice. Other features include “Balkon“, “Les Infos du Paradis“, three or four articles on other artists, and above all, Parkett's famous artists’ editions.

Parkett editions have been exhibited at major museums around the world, including The Museum of Modern Art, New York, Whitechapel London, Seoul Arts Center, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art Beijing, and most recently, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan.
