| | | KRISTEN MUELLER | DATE 4/10/2019Saturday April 13, from 4–6PM, Artbook at MoMA PS1 Bookstore and Stupendous invite you to celebrate the publication of Alex Roth's Please Make Sure Your Camper is Secure, with a conversation between Alex Roth and David Griffith. A book signing will follow. Please Make Sure Your Camper is Secure is an autoethnography written by interdisciplinary artist and Pennsylvania native, Alex Roth. In 2011 Roth purchased a small plot of land in Gilberton, PA. For eight years the artist intermittently stayed in an RV situated in the heart of this small coal-mining town. What began as heuristic exploration is concentrated in this collection of essays, interviews, and documentation of the artist’s performances.
Alex Roth (b. 1986) is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in NYC. Her background includes a focus on trades, namely taxidermy and welding. Roth is currently earning a Masters of Professional Studies in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute.
David Griffith is a writer and educator dedicated to creating spaces where writers of all abilities feel empowered to take creative risks, collaborate with peers, and arrive at a deeper understanding of themselves and the communities they live in. He is the author of A Good War is Hard to Find: The Art of Violence in America, a collection of essays reflecting on the ways that images of violence in film, literature, and in news media shape our collective understanding of violence as a means of solving problems.
This event is free and open to the public.
