Rachel Cobb to launch “Mistral” at Rizzoli

Thursday October 25 at 6PM, Damiani, Rizzoli Bookstore & ARTBOOK | DAP Invite you to celebrate the publication of Rachel Cobb: Mistral, The Legendary Wind of Provence with a conversation between photographer Rachel Cobb and noted author Bill Buford.

Mistral, The Legendary Wind of Provence is a portrait of Provence seen through its fierce wind. Cobb spent years chasing this capricious force of nature, challenging herself to photograph the invisible. As she became sensitive to its rhythms and effects, Cobb realized the mistral was not just a weather phenomenon, it was an integral part of the fabric of Provençal life. It was everywhere, yet always unseen.

Photographer RACHEL COBB'S work has been widely published in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine and Time. She has exhibited in solo and group shows across the U.S. and in France.

BILL BUFORD is the former fiction editor of The New Yorker and author of Heat, Iconic Dishes (with Daniel Boulud) and Among the Thugs. His forthcoming book, Dirt, about training to be a French chef in Lyon, will be published by Knopf.
