A Visual Record: Michael Stipe with Douglas Coupland and Jonathan Berger, Live from the NYPL

Friday, November 1 at 7 PM, the New York Public Library presents multifaceted artist and Our Interference Times author Michael Stipe in conversation with co-author Douglas Coupland and cross-disciplinary artist Jonathan Berger.

Before he left school to become the frontman for R.E.M., Michael Stipe was a studio art major at the University of Georgia. It was there that he developed a creative sensibility that would inform all graphic, video, and stage design for the band, as well his approach to writing, composing, and performing. In a new book of photography that draws on his vast personal archive, Stipe explores visual representations of the current moment, mining the space where halftone meets pixels.
