Joel Meyerowitz to Launch 'Morandi's Objects' at The Strand

Join ARTBOOK | D.A.P. and Damiani Books at The Strand this THURSDAY, APRIL 14 for a talk and book signing with pioneering color photographer Joel Meyerowitz, in celebration of his beautiful new monograph, Morandi's Objects.

Joel Meyerowitz to Launch 'Morandi's Objects' at The Strand

The career of Joel Meyerowitz spans decades and continents; from his pioneering work in color photography to his iconic documentation of the aftermath of September 11th, his place in the history of the medium is assured. With his latest book, Morandi's Objects, he delves deep into the essence of the visible, recording the poise and stillness of the subjects of the metaphysical realist painter Giorgio Morandi, as they are, in the artist’s own home.

His survey of the bowls, cups, and assorted household tools that made up the master’s still lifes is both a document of Meyerowitz’s obsession with the paintings and the thingness of the things, their survival beyond the work, and the predations of time and atmosphere on the physical world. Join Meyerowitz in the Rare Book Room to have him sign his most recent meditation on art, life, and what it is to see a thing.
