Marcel Dzama Signing "Behind Every Curtain" at David Zwirner, March 5, 2011

Fans of artist Marcel Dzama lined up on Saturday afternoon, March 5, to have the artist sign (and draw custom pictures in) advance copies of "Behind Every Curtain," a small, beautifully produced volume that feels as much like a mysterious sketchbook as an exhibition catalog, as well as other books, like The Infidels, featured at left. "Behind Every Curtain" collects drawings, film stills, sculptural works and dioramas produced for Dzama's film, "A Game of Chess," on view alongside an exhibition of the objects at David Zwirner Gallery through March 19th. Below are a video and some photographs from the event.
