Oliver Clegg Slot Car Race & Book Launch at Artbook @ MoMA PS1

Saturday, December 2 from 4PM-6PM, Artbook @ MoMA PS1 presents a unique event that's equal parts book launch, competition, and ice cream social! The first 32 individuals to purchase a copy of Oliver Clegg’s monograph will be awarded a ticket to compete in a slot car race held in the Book Space! Spectatorship is free and open to all!

The motorized slot cars are made by the artist and are modeled after famous cars from history, ranging from James Dean’s Porsche Spyder to OJ Simpson’s white Ford Bronco. As a part of the festivities, Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream will be providing free ice cream!

This event follows Clegg’s chess, backgammon, and foosball Triathlon at Cabinet Magazine’s offices in Gowanus, as well as the spinning dining table made for the Brooklyn Artists’ Ball, and continues to speak to the artist’s interest audience engagement and analog participation.

The self-titled monograph, a recent publication from Anomie in London, showcases Clegg’s impressive range of media and methods. Clegg’s work is simultaneously playful and dark, often incorporating childhood objects and imagery. The concept of games is often prevalent in his work.
