For the final 20 years of his life, Cy Twombly (1928–2011) often returned to his hometown of Lexington, Virginia. Rob McDonald, one of his acquaintances there, made photographs inside Twombly’s final storefront studio, as well as at the site of Black Mountain College where Twombly created some of his earliest work.
