Inspired by David Lynch's The Straight Story, Swiss photographer Yann Gross (born 1981) embarked on a motorbike journey through Switzerland's Rhône Valley. There, he found an uncanny match for the rural American Dream: biker babes, drag racing, line dancing and tricked-out RVs. In Horizonville, Gross examines how cultural types can exceed their geographical origins.

"When Gross has a yen to travel, he fixes a trailer to his moped, packs his things and sets off down the Valley of the Rhone, in Switzerland. There, surrounded by mountains, a traditionally secular people has farmed and forced a living out of the land. It’s hard to imagine that on this land, some of them, having rejected the idea of ‘here’ have sought for themselves an ‘elsewhere’ that is right here.
