Aeon Bookstore celebrates 100 books by Wakefield Press!

Thursday, October 30, at 7 PM, please join Wakefield Press at Aeon Bookstore to celebrate Wakefield's 100th title, SchrummSchrumm, or The Sunday Quicksands Excursion by Fernand Combet. Publisher Marc Lowenthal will be joined by translators Erik Butler, Margaret Carson, Kit Schluter and Doug Skinner. Readings and a discussion will be accompanied by t-shirts and champagne.

Aeon Bookstore celebrates 100 books by Wakefield Press!

Erik Butler is a researcher at the Yale School of Drama. He has translated many works of European literature, including Soviet Jewish symbolist Der Nister and foul-mouthed Catholic mystic Léon Bloy. He is the author of several books, including The Rise of the Vampire.

Margaret Carson is the translator of Remedios Varo’s On Homo rodans and Other Writings. She is currently working on several Varo-related projects related to the artist and her circle of friends and collaborators tentatively entitled “A Remedios Varo Compendium.”

Poet, translator, and book designer Kit Schluter lives in Mexico City. He is author of the short story collection Cartoons, and his acclaimed translations from the French and Spanish include books by Rafael Bernal, Copi, bruno darío, Felisberto Hernández, and Marcel Schwob.

Doug Skinner has contributed to Weirdo, Nickelodeon, Cabinet, Fate, and The Fortean Times, among other publications. His books include fiction, cartoons, and translations of many Bohemians, occultists and visionaries.
