Paul McCarthy Book Launch at ARTBOOK @ Hauser Wirth & Schimmel

Saturday, June 4 from 3:30-5:30 PM, ARTBOOK @ Hauser Wirth & Schimmel presents a discussion and book signing with Paul McCarthy, in celebration of the new, revised and expanded edition of his classic Phaidon monograph.

Paul McCarthy Book Launch at ARTBOOK @ Hauser Wirth & Schimmel

Originally released in 1996 as the first comprehensive survey of over 20 years of work by a profoundly influential artist, the revised and expanded edition of Paul McCarthy is the most complete monograph on McCarthy’s work to date. In conversation with Hauser Wirth & Schimmel Senior Director Stacen Berg, McCarthy will discuss the deployment of psycho-sexual desires and media-induced anxiety through sculpture, video and action-oriented inquiry.

Documenting 20-plus years of creative practice, Paul McCarthy offers essays by Ralph Rugoff, Kristine Stiles, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Robert Storr that identify common currents in McCarthy’s work, in addition to previously unpublished notes and poems toward sculptures, performances and videos by McCarthy himself. Copies will be available for sale and the artist will be signing books following the discussion.

This event is free, but an RSVP is required.
