| | | CORY REYNOLDS | DATE 8/4/2016August 4 - September 22, the Brooklyn Academy of Music presents The Films of Robert Frank, a full-career retrospective with prints courtesy of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. In support, our friends at Greenlight Bookstore are hosting a Robert Frank book selection, featuring almost 20 lovingly produced volumes by Steidl and partners.
Like his photographs, Frank’s restlessly inventive films have a deceptively spontaneous quality, capturing fragments of everyday existence that reveal volumes.
Showcased in BAM's retrospective are rarely screened film works encompassing records of mid-century counterculture which examine boundaries between documentary, fiction, and the autobiographical.
Featured at Greenlight are small, exquisite artists books, exhibition catalogs and surveys. Perfect companions to Frank's groundbreaking, often little-known independent films.
