Architect Christopher Rawlins is the best-selling author of Fire Island Modernist: Horace Gifford and the Architecture of Seduction, newly reissued in an expanded edition. He is also the founder of the Pines Modern conservancy and the Principal of Rawlins Design. Having centered the midcentury beach house as an object of cultural and architectural significance, Rawlins now restores them. He is also pioneering new, resilient vacation home designs in an era of climate change.
