KRISTEN MUELLER | DATE 8/23/2018Join Artbook at MoMA PS1 on Sunday, August 26 at 3PM for the launch of Artbook Editions’ fourth installment in the Unlimited-Limited series—a print by drummer, programmer and Tom Tom magazine founder Mindy Abovitz-Monk. Titled "Went Home Due to All the Noise," the print is a responsive graffiti piece based on "Getting Louder," which Abovitz-Monk performed at Mana Contemporary in 2016.
To celebrate the launch, Abovitz-Monk will lead a discussion with female drummers about the ways in which they have been restricted or hemmed in while seeking to make their music, and how this has informed them as individuals. Participants include: Dalia G. Shusterman, Rosie Slater, Naama Levy, Jane Boxall, Shayna Dunkelman and Anastasiya Kostromina.
Artbook Unlimited-Limited print series is printed on-demand. Prints can be ordered on site at Artbook @ MoMA PS1 Bookstore or ordered via email, for pickup in store or delivery. Prints can be made on any paper that is in stock, using any size where the shorter side is 41 inches. Each print comes with a numbered signed certificate. The prints are available for one year from the launch date. At the conclusion of that year the size of the editions is concluded. More information is available in the Bookstore or via email at booksmomaps1@artbook.com.
Mindy Abovitz-Monk is a self-taught drummer and programmer based in Brooklyn with a Masters Degree from The New School. She started Tom Tom Magazine; the first and only magazine about female drummers, in 2009. Tom Tom is a full color print magazine based out of NYC.
