"It was a classic love at first sight, but there were two divorces in the way so they had to wait about a year before the wedding ceremony. This marriage – strictly technical and entrepreneurial – was the union of Antoine Norbert Patek de Pradwdzic and Jean Adrien Philippe. The former was a Polish exile, born in the province of Lublin in 1812 and subsequently a Swiss national, and the latter a French technician born in 1815 in a village some hundred kilometers from Paris. The passion that brought them together had to do with watches."
