Typographic Patterns from a Pioneer of Digital Design
Illustrations by Zuzana Licko.
Pixelated grids, fractal florals and looping flourishes abound in these 16 perforated posters designed by Zuzana Licko exclusively for Letterform Archive
Founded in 1984 by Rudy VanderLans and Zuzana Licko, Emigre is the first name in digital fonts. Under the couple’s creative direction, letterforms do more than make words: they are also building blocks for eye-grabbing computational patterns. As two Bay Area bastions of typography, Emigre and Letterform Archive have a long-standing relationship. Now, Letterform Archive has commissioned Zuzana Licko to create 16 pieces of original digital artwork made from her popular typefaces such as Tangly, Puzzler and Lo-Res Outlined. Printed on oversize perforated sheets in full bleed, these designs can be used as wall decor, patterns in art projects or even as gift wrap. A delightful collection from the foundry that put digital type on the map, these patterns riff off the visual idioms of both print and computer mediums, making them perfect for design lovers of all eras.
