| |   |   | Juergen Teller & Nicolas Ghesquiére: The FlowLouis Vuitton, Spring–Summer 2015
Following the success of I Just Arrived in Paris, The Flow is the second book in the continuing collaboration between Juergen Teller and fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière, the current artistic director of Louis Vuitton. On October 1, 2014, Teller photographed Ghesquière's Spring–Summer 2015 collection for the house, and the resulting book is a fluid mix of fashion photos and images of Paris shot while boating down the Seine. This combination of portraiture, still-life and landscape photography mirrors the eclectic influences and materials which Ghesquière synthesizes in his collections—a bold, unconventional flow whereby innovation unceasingly rejuvenates a tradition.

The juxtapositions of landscape, portraits, and still lifes contain the usual guile of Teller’s work and mirrors the inspirations for Ghesquière’s collection. 10 Magazine Ted Stansfeild The photographs inside it blend the media of fashion, portrait, still-life and landscape photography and, as is typical of Juergen Teller’s photographs, are profoundly beautiful. The collection too is beautiful. Something former-resistent of Ten Towers said spoke of “intergalactic stewardesses, and lap of luxury voyagers.” That sense of intergalacticity (if that’s a word) and luxury is something that Juergen has captured, with his characteristic artistic flair. We’ve already cleared a space on our coffee tables for ‘The Flow’ because, to somewhat pretentiously quote John Keats, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” And this book sure as hell will be. |
