The most recent winner of the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize is British Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor (born 1954), known the world over for his works such as Cloud Gate and Sky Mirror. In its citation awarding the prize, the jury praised foremost the artist's inimitable style: "It is the magic of the monochrome, symbol-laden colors, reflective surfaces and monumental forms that makes [his] work unique. He uses a wide variety of materials, from color pigments to wax, PVC and silicone to stone and steel, with enormous technical mastery and precision."
