Founded in 2006 by Ed Gomez and Luis G. Hernandez, the MexiCali Biennial celebrates aesthetic production on both sides of (and across) the California–Mexico border. In celebration of the organization's 20th year, Art, Actions, Exchanges since 2006 offers a compelling visual and intellectual journey through the evolving conversations on identity, migration, resistance and creative activism. Produced in collaboration with the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture, this bilingual (English/Spanish) publication brings together selections from more than 150 artists who have participated in the Biennial, in addition to scholarly essays by leading curators and scholars, in-depth artist-curator dialogues and chapters that capture the ingenuity and innovation of each thematic cycle.
Artists include: Annabel Turrado, Carmina Escobar, Ed Gomez, Guillermo Estrada, Homeless Collective, Isidro Pérez García, Joaquin Segura, Luis G. Hernandez, Mike Rogers, Rebeca Hernandez, Susana Rodríguez.
