Claudia Colodro and Liz Garo opened Stories in November 2008. Facing a crumbling economy and a chorus of amateur pop economists predicting the death of the bookstore, Stories opened its doors and proved the doubters wrong. Colodro and Garo were embraced by the neighborhood, and their continuing growth and success is a testament to the vitality of Echo Park. As part of the larger literary community of Los Angeles, Stores hosts a diverse calendar of events, from book release parties to comedy shows, live music and community meetings. Its carefully curated selection has made Stories a destination for book lovers of the greater Los Angeles area and beyond.
