Artbook Retail Stores New York Internship Positions Fall | Winter 2021 Artbook @ MoMA PS1 Bookstore seeks highly motivated individuals with knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and culture for their Fall | Winter 2021 Internship Program. The internship offers in-store and virtual positions.

We are seeking a 16 hour/week minimum commitment. Hours to be flexible in accordance with ongoing projects.

Artbook Stores introduce interns to the inner workings of an independent bookstore navigating the changing and expanding 21st century retail reality. Interns give us fresh insight and introduce us to new skills, keeping our bookstore relevant in the current cultural context.

Required skills:
— A strong command of reading and writing in English.
— Fluency with Microsoft Office programs.
— Online promotion via social media: Instagram, Twitter, FB, etc.
— Ability to multitask and keep track of long-term projects.

A strong candidate:
— Has an interest in current culture, art, design, fashion, music, etc. and wants to learn more about contemporary art and books.
— Has a background or interest in graphic design, writing, editing and/or research.
— Has experience managing social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) and creating engaging content.
— Has experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
— Shows initiative and self-motivation. Cooperative spirit!
— Experience in livestream platforms such as Zoom, IG Live or Crowdcast.
— Familiar with Slack.
— Familiar with Evernote.

In-person interns may acquire and refine the following skills and knowledge bases:
— Understand the role of the bookstore within the larger context of a contemporary art institution. — Assist with special events programming (book launches and signings, in-store, off-site or remote).
— Contribute content for social media and customer outreach efforts.
— Contribute focused research on specific artists and publishers for upcoming Artbook Stores Events and store focal points.
— Day-to-day tasks will include customer service, inventory management, shipping, receiving, designing promotional material, submission review, archiving and store physical maintenance.

Remote interns will work with both Artbook @ MoMA PS1 Bookstore and Artbook @ Hauser & Wirth LA Bookstore staff and may acquire and refine the following skills and knowledge bases:
— Understand the role of the bookstore within the larger context of a contemporary art institution and art gallery. — Assist with special events programming (remote book launches and signings).
— Contribute content for social media and customer outreach efforts.
— Contribute focused research on specific artists and publishers for upcoming Artbook Events and store focal points.
— Edit and build content for our website, artbookstores.com.
— Assist with all other online promotional activities, including our bookshop.org store page.

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship program. School credit and community service hours are available to qualified applicants. All accepted into the Artbook @ MoMA PS1 Bookstore Fall | Winter Internship Program will be gifted a selection of books chosen from the bookstore upon completion of the internship.

Artbook also runs an independent bookstore at MoMA PS 1 in New York City and Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District.
