Chinese painter Tan Ping (born 1960) began his studies in Berlin in the same year as the fall of the Berlin Wall. Together with China's reopening to the West, these events allowed Tan to develop an abstract formal language inspired by Art Informel, Conceptual art, calligraphy and more.
