Born in Hungary, painter Suzanne Perlman (1922–2020) fled Europe during World War II and briefly studied with Oskar Kokoschka before finally settling in Curaçao, where she remained for 50 years, developing a vivid expressionist style that captured the spirit of the island and its people with rare intimacy.
