Iranian painter Reza Derakshani's (born 1952) style is characterized by a light scraping technique, greater exposed areas of unprimed canvas and the introduction of textual traces. His subjects are figurative but allegorical in their representation of motifs from Persian culture across mediums such as illustrated manuscripts, poetry and music.
